Goal

The Backpack Project marked the first official initiative of the Anzar Foundation. In 2025, Malek and Sereen distributed 150 backpacks in the Bin El Ouidane region to children from first to sixth grade.

Description

The Backpack Project marked the first official initiative of the Anzar Foundation — a simple yet powerful act to support education in Morocco’s mountain communities. In 2025, Malek and Sereen visited several schools across the Bin El Ouidane region, where many children attend class without the most basic supplies.

They distributed 150 fully equipped backpacks to students from first to sixth grade, each one filled with school essentials: pens, pencils, sharpeners, rulers, compasses, erasers, glue sticks, folders, and notebooks. For many of these children, it was the first time they entered school carrying a proper school bag — a symbol of dignity, pride, and belonging.

Beyond the materials, this project sent a powerful message: every child deserves the right to learn fully prepared.

Impact

  • 150 children equipped with complete school kits for the academic year.

  • Improved attendance and participation, as children felt motivated and supported to attend classes.

  • Stronger connection with families and schools, reinforcing the value of education within the community.

  • Inspiration for continuity — a growing movement to reach 13 more schools and provide 400 additional backpacks, ensuring no child in the region starts school unprepared.

The Backpack Project stands as a symbol of hope and equal opportunity, showing that small gestures can open big doors — one backpack, one child, one future at a time.
