Our foundation helped renovate a crumbling classroom at the same school, adding a proper fourth room. This ended split shifts, restored full school days, and showed students that their education matters.

Description

In 2019, Malek and Sereen led a community effort to renovate a crumbling classroom at the Igerferouane public school in Al Haouz. The building was unsafe and unusable, which forced children to attend in shifts. Each student received only half a school day, and teachers struggled to keep learning on track.

Working with the school director and local builders, they scoped the structural repairs, prepared a simple budget, and raised funds through family, friends, and a partner nonprofit. The renovation plan focused on safety first. Walls were reinforced, flooring was repaired, windows and doors were replaced for ventilation and security, and new lighting and desks were installed. The result was a functional fourth classroom that met basic safety and hygiene standards and could be maintained locally.

When the classroom reopened, the school restored a full-day schedule for all students. Parents and teachers reported better concentration, less classroom crowding, and a stronger sense that the community values education. The project dem
